Instructions for Sat (Oct 20)

Sequence of events for Saturday:

There will be "lead dancers" from the dance studios plus dancers from the YouTube demo.
Everyone else who plans to join the dance is part of the "mob"
Try to look like nothing unusual is going on both before and after the dancing.
Please dress warmly.
  1. Check in at green tent at 11:00am (South West Corner of City Hall, see map below).
  2. Lead dancers only, hang out in small groups near the fountain and wait for the drums.  (There will be live bongo drummers).
  3. "Mob", go to the market and browse until you hear the drums then make your way toward the fountain.
  4. Drumming begins.
  5. Lead dancers run into fountain area.  When you hear your music, start your routine.
  6. When your routine ends drums will play and additional lead dancers will join in front of you.  (repeat as necessary)
  7. Once the studio routines are complete dancers from the YouTube demo will join at the front. 500 miles song will start. All lead dancers perform the sequence once (3 songs - I'm gonna be (500 miles), Technologic, & Fireworks).
  8. During the sequence mob dancers (everyone else) can join in whenever you like.
  9. When the sequence finishes all dancers should be in the fountain area.  The sequence will play again with the whole mob (everyone) dancing in the fountain.
  10. When you join make sure you spread out (arms length) so you have space to move (it looks better on video too).  If you are not completely confident with the routine, join at the back so you have someone to follow. (We want this to look coordinated and in sync).
  11. After the sequence (3 songs) finishes for the second time, everyone do a big cheer "Hoy, Hoy, Hoy, Hoy, Hoy" (5 times for Wendy Hoy's 500 mile walk).
  12. When the music stops the bongo drums will play again.  Bongo drummers feel free to play as long as you want then enjoy your day.
  13. Walk away as if nothing out of the ordinary has happened and enjoy the market.
  14. After the dance, drop by the booth to say hi to Wendy and give her encouragement for her 500 mile walk to Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
  15. We will post follow-up links and any photos or video on this blog when available.
Have Fun!
